The Village of Lemont is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern - Events Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a rising junior or senior interested in event planning, marketing, and project management. The intern will assist in coordinating various aspects of events, including logistics, vendor relations, marketing support, and on-site event execution.
This role is integral to the success of Lemont Cruise Nights , the village's largest weekly event, running from June 4 to August 27!
The ideal candidate will start in the week of May 27 and is required to be available to work the following hours :
Monday & Tuesday
10 : 00 AM – 1 : 00 PM
Wednesday
9 : 30 AM – 9 : 30 PM
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Event Specialist in organizing and executing the Lemont Cruise Nights.
Secure parking spots designated for food vendors and special events at the car show.
Communicate with the trophy sponsor regarding meeting times and locations, prepare winner packages, and assist in the award presentation, including capturing photos of the winning car and its owner.
Aid in vendor setup and direct vendors to their assigned locations, including food vendors and activity stations.
Manage the Cruise Night registration table, ensuring smooth operations for attendees.
Assist in planning and organizing corporate, community, and promotional events.
Coordinate event logistics, including venue booking, vendor communication, and materials preparation.
Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and event debriefs.
Provide on-site event support, including setup, registration, and attendee assistance.
Requirements :
Must be a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Event Management, Marketing, Hospitality, Communications, or a related field.
Graduate level students are preferred.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media platforms.
Creative mindset with attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in event planning, marketing, or customer service
Knowledge in form building software (Typeform) is a plus.
Graphic design or content creation skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) are a bonus.
