Mount Horeb Police Department Administrative Assistant
Are you looking for an opportunity to contribute to the safety and efficiency of our community’s law enforcement efforts? The Mount Horeb Police Department is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our team. As the Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating and maintaining department records, providing administrative support, and ensuring seamless operations within our department.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for creating and maintaining department records, files and documents ensuring their accessibility to the proper staff.
This role involves accurate data entry, transcribing reports, and other essential departmental documents. The individual in this role handles phone calls, emails, drop-in customers, and direct messages to internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize police department records and documents.
- Process and track correspondence, forms, and reports.
- Answer phone calls, assist visitors, and direct inquiries appropriately.
- Process parking tickets and handle cash transactions.
- Assist with budget preparation and expense coding.
- Maintain and update department policies, website, and interdepartmental forms.
- Order office and maintenance supplies as needed.
- Complete monthly/annual Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) paperwork.
- Coordinate with outside agencies and process necessary paperwork.
- Provide general administrative support to department personnel.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited college with a two-year degree in business administration, accounting or related field, and two or more years’ experience in administrative work. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
- Valid driver's license.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Prior professional experience in the public sector.
COMPENSATION, HOURS AND BENEFITS:
Starting wage is $24.00 an hour depending on qualifications. This position is full-time and may require some weekend work depending on work volume.
