EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Direct supervision over assigned technical staff, trains, and evaluates• Provides reference and reader’s service.• Assists in preparing the annual budget, particularly as it relates to technical services and needs; prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations; monitor and control expenditures. • Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives helps and implements policies and procedures.• Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommend improvements and modifications; prepare various reports on operations and activities. • Anticipates, manages, and maintains accurate records for all expenditures, assuring compliance with current VPS purchasing procedures. • Processes invoices for payment in MUNIS system• Manages e-resources platforms, set-up platforms, trains staff on platforms.• Complies monthly stats – for all digital platforms E-resources, Mango language, Overdrive, iCloud, NewsBank, Hoopla, etc...• Cataloging and classifying library materials; maintaining an accurate, up-to-date database of library holdings; and physically processing items being added to and withdrawn from collections.• Acts as local liaison with the network on technical services matters. Consult with COALA libraries and ByWater Solutions to resolve cataloging and database problems, report trends in bibliographic services, answer questions, transmit information, and discuss options for handling library materials.• Places orders for new adult and young adult books and audiovisual items, receives shipments, and checks in newly acquired materials.• Ensure library facilities, equipment, and IT are functioning properly, report issues and follow up until resolved.• Assist Library director in ensuring that the public and technical library services are supporting and meeting our community needs.• Manages inventory and weeding of the collections, utilizes current technology to help with this process.• Responsible for collection development with different views by selecting and de-selecting materials. • Updates and maintains computer records for the integrated library system (ILS). • Selects and orders books and audiovisual materials by reading professional library journals and reviewing sources. • Coordinates the processing of damaged, missing, and lost materials; recommends repair treatment and replacement orders for withdrawn materials. • Arranges and maintains materials for patron access, resolves discrepancies with vendors and prepares order and present reports. • Maintains the integrity and accuracy of online catalog by creating electronic records for all materials added to the library’s collection. • Identifies, collects, and analyzes appropriate data.• Evaluates and responds to proposals for consortial purchases of electronic resources. • Oversee the maintenance of database usage statistics files, coordinates database trials. • Provides consistent communication, outreach and promotion of library resources and services; Provides information fluency and information literacy training. • Runs SQL queries using guided reports module in KOHA ILS for various reports, lists and statistics.• Works with Library Media Specialist to promote digital resources.
