Panther Club After-School Group Leader
The Village of Pleasantville’s Parks & Recreation Department is seeking eligible candidates for their 2024-2025 Panther Club After School Program.
Get paid to PLAY! Panther Club is an after-school program that operates during the school year, Monday-Friday from 2:30pm-6:00pm. Staff is expected to supervise a specific elementary grade level of children during games, outdoor play, and homework periods. The ideal candidate will have high-energy, take initiative, and have experience supervising or interacting with children in a day care, camp, after-school, classroom, or similar setting. Additional staff requirements and position duties include:
- Acquiring and maintaining CPR, AED and First Aid certifications and OCFS and NYS mandated trainings (The Village of Pleasantville supports staff in these efforts).
- Fully understanding and respecting OCFS and Village of Pleasantville guidelines for safety and compliance including maintaining 1:10 staff-to-child ratio, keeping attendance and daily occurrence records, maintaining program quality and control at all times, communicating effectively and efficiently with the administrative staff, etc.
- Developing and implementing activities for the program to keep participants moving, enthusiastic, and engaged.
- Be a community ambassador by taking initiative, speaking with parents, facilitating sign-in and sign-out procedures and maintaining a safe space for participants at all times.
- Candidates must be reliable, responsible, and capable of teamwork and collaboration to ensure overall program quality and consistency.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of experience in which the primary function of the position was conducting recreation activities, programs or services.
SUBSTITUTION 1: Satisfactory completion of 30 credits towards a Bachelor’s Degree* in Recreation, Parks Resources, Leisure Services, Physical Education or a related field may be substituted on a year for year basis for the above work experience.
SUBSTITUTION 2: Possession of current Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) status conferred by the National Recreation and Park Association or one of its authorized and recognized affiliates may be substituted for the above work experience.

Pay: $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 17.5 per week
