The Pool Supervisor is responsible for duties pertaining to the operation and safety of the Hap Parker Family Aquatic Center. The pool manager will represent the Recreation Department and facility to the public.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must obtain or willing to obtain the following certifications: Lifeguard Training; Community First Aid and Training; C.P.R. for Professional Rescuer; A.E.D; & Lifeguard Instructor
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Thorough knowledge of administrative principles and practices
- Maintain professional interaction and have the ability to work cooperatively with the public and employees in promoting good public relations and providing safe; efficient aquatics facility
- Previous Supervisor/Manager experience preferred
REQUIREMENTS
- Able to make sound judgments in an emergency situation
- Perform all such duties necessary for effective and efficient functioning of the facility
- Set a positive example for the rest of the staff to follow and support a team atmosphere among all departments and staff
- Be professional; alert; courteous; and always tactful; maintaining positive can-do attitude at the aquatic facility
- Must be available during the months of May to September
- Must be available to work afternoons; evenings; holidays; and weekends as needed
- Must be willing to work between 20 to 40 hours a week
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
- Maintain the chemical and filtration equipment; accurately recording readings to ensure water is safe for patrons
- Communication with Pool Manager on all facets of the facility operation
- Inspect rescue equipment; telephone; and first aid kit daily; restocking as necessary
- Supervise the Hap Parker Family Aquatic Center in the absence of the Pool Manager
- Responsible for making closing decisions based on weather issues and low attendance; posting information on social media; and reporting that information to Pool Manager
- Handle First Aid issues as they arise
- Check the phone or radio communication upon each day to be sure they are in proper working order
- Maintains lifeguard staff rotation and breaks
- Report all disciplinary matters to the Pool Manager
- Assigns responsibility to the lifeguards while in/out of guard chair
- Encourage positive staff relationships among all departments
- Reports any problems/issues to the Pool Manager
- Supervise front gate and concession staff in absence of Pool Manager
- Limit time in office by walking deck and interacting with patrons
- Attend and assist in planning of all required staff meetings
- Maintains responsibility for ejecting patrons for disciplinary problems or violation of our policies
- Directs the clean-up of the aquatic facility; when needed during operational hours
- Maintains control of the posted bathing load
- Informs the Pool Manager when supplies are needed or equipment needs repair or replaced
- Insure employees who are under their direct supervision are properly trained in their duties
- Responsible for the security of the pool area; i.e.; locked doors; etc.
