This is a salaried position. Benefits include health insurance, WRS pension, vacation, sick/personal days, and a clothing allowance. Police Officer will have a flexible schedule, 2022 police truck, and private office.
Job Overview
The Police Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within the community. Officers will engage with community members, respond to emergencies, conduct investigations, and collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe environment for all.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents.
- Conduct thorough investigations of crimes, accidents, and other incidents.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, arrests, and investigations.
- Enforce traffic laws and regulations; issue citations as necessary.
- Engage with the community to build trust and foster positive relationships.
- Provide first aid and CPR assistance when required.
- Utilize surveillance techniques to monitor suspicious activities.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies on joint operations.
- Maintain knowledge of immigration laws and relevant regulations.
Experience
Candidates should possess a strong foundation in leadership skills, as well as experience or training in the following areas:
- Report writing: Ability to document incidents accurately and comprehensively.
- Surveillance: Experience in monitoring activities for suspicious behavior.
- First aid and CPR: Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred.
- Loss prevention: Understanding of strategies to prevent theft or loss within the community.
- Animal care: Familiarity with handling animals during incidents involving wildlife or domestic pets.
Ideal candidates will have a background that reflects their commitment to public service, safety, and community engagement.
Interested applicants for the Police Officer position must be certifiable by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board; current certification is preferred. Applicants must possess a minimum of 60 college credits at the time of employment, a current driver’s license, and no criminal convictions.
