Classification Summary
Under close supervision, must be able to handle money exchanges, and be able to handle emergency situations. The Recreation Attendant is responsible for all sales at Ruidoso Public Pool and Inflatable Waterpark including, swimming tickets and food concessions and all Recreation Programming. The Recreation Attendant is responsible for monitoring and regulating the slide use at the Pool and fitting customers with life jackets at the inflatable waterpark. The Recreation Attendant is responsible to recognize safety and welfare issues at the Ruidoso Public Pool and Wibit Waterpark. Minimum age of 16.
Essential Job Functions

- Responsible for all ticket sales for pool, parking passes, and inflatable waterpark passes. Responsible for issuing any season passes for either aquatic facility.
- Track and record attendance.
- Give out rainchecks.
- Responsible for concession area on pool deck.
- Responsible for the money drawer at the pool, the inflatable waterpark or all other worked events
- Monitors and regulates slide use, bracelets and tickets.
- Ensures customers meet minimum height requirements for inflatable waterpark.
- Fit customers with appropriate size lifejacket.
- Cleans pool area, office, shower area and surroundings
- Follows acceptable rotation with other pool or Wibit staff for each station.
- Inspects equipment and facilities on a regular basis to ensure proper maintenance
- Providing excellent Public relations / Customer Service to all users of all facilities
- Assist in monitoring pool area and inflatable waterpark for hazards and safety of customers
- Explains and enforces rules and regulations at the pool and the Wibit Waterpark
- Operate emergency equipment and utilize First Aid supplies as needed.
- Enforce Swimming Pool Rules & Regulations and Wibit Waterpark Rules.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services
Other Responsibilities or Job Requirements
- Janitorial duties (cleaning restrooms, emptying trash receptacles, cleaning and disinfecting decks, Tables, Chairs and showers).
- Crowd control in emergency situations.
- Completes personal time entry accurately and timely in the Employee Self Service Software and ensures time is reported based on actual time worked.
- Ensures that any on-the job injury is reported immediately and followed up with appropriate forms and actions.
- Report harassment immediately to your supervisor
- May be required to work in other areas of the Parks & Recreation department and assist in programing and all special events.
- Follow Opening & Closing procedures along with all the policies at any of the Parks and Recreation Facilities.

Work Environment
- Inclement weather conditions and/or situations.
- Works inside and outside as necessary and depending on if they are at the pool or Wibit Waterpark.
- May work an irregular schedule, early mornings, long hours, weekends, evenings and holidays.
- May be called when needed.
- Noise level could be moderate to loud in work environment.
Must be 16 years of age or older. Six months experience handling money exchanges preferred. Professional CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Must be able to pass criminal history checks and be able to pass a credit check and be willing to take and pass a drug/alcohol test and comply with agency “Drug Free” Policy.
Licenses and/or Certifications
If you possess a New Mexico Driver’s license, then you must maintain a valid New Mexico motor vehicle operator’s permit of appropriate classification and endorsement as required. Must agree to maintain a satisfactory MVR and minimum requirement of insurability as required by law. MVR background checks will be conducted by the Village.
Ability to: recognize dangerous situations in the Pool/ wibit/ lake area, prevent or handle emergency and potentially dangerous situations, see and observe behavior, and hear the sound of someone calling for help in a noisy environment, perform duties and adapt to flexible work schedules ad established by management, work in a stressful environment and deal effectively with stress, maintain physical condition and stamina appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time.
Skills in: Operating calculator or cash register; making mathematical calculations; maintaining accurate records. Have strong English language abilities and legible handwriting.
