JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Beach and Parks Crew Supervisor responsible for maintaining Surfside Beaches and Parks. To preform related work as required to beachfronts. The employee must have a strong work ethic, a willingness to work in all safe weather conditions and must be willing to work with a professional team. This position is physically demanding and requires a great deal of physical stamina.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Daily Parks operations, trash pickup, maintenance, cleaning, mowing, weed-eating, and basic ground keeping of City facilities.
• Daily Surfside Beach trash pickup, cleaning and removing debris from beaches, this also includes the boat ramps.
• Work with other employees in performing various sanitation tasks in a safe and acceptable manner.
• Work outside in extreme weather conditions including very hot, very cold, or inclement weather.
• Lift and carry up to 50-pound weight trash bags.
• Uses hand tools when required for work tasks.
• Work safely near vehicle beach traffic; obtain the ability to hear clearly.
• Stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch, grip with hands and use hand eye coordination.
• Fill in for vacancies as needed, maybe required to work extended hours past your scheduled hours days and during high demand seasonal holidays and special beach events.
• Demonstrate dependability, teamwork, and strong work ethic.
• Other duties may also be assigned to Park/Beach department.

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Employee must have a valid Texas driver's license and provide transportation to Park/Beach Department.
• Must be able to represent the department to both external and internal customers with a professional and friendly demeanor.
• Applicants must have previous park, maintenance, and lawn care or related experience desired.
• Must have ability to perform physically demanding manual labor.
• Employee must be willing to work non-traditional schedule such as early mornings, weekends, holidays, special events and at other times if needed, and comply with all Surfside Beach policies such as a uniform dress code, background check and drug screening.
• Performs job duties with minimum direct supervision.
• Exhibit professionalism and maintain order in stressful situations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public, using tact and professionalism.
• Ability to stand and walk for 9 hours a day.
• Employee must be motivated, punctual, and reliable, willing to learn and work in a team environment, as a member of a maintenance Park/Beach crew.
• Park/Beach department uniforms will be provided.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

WORK SCHEDULE:

• Must be available to work all shifts as assigned, and as needed to meet operational goals.
• Must be available to work all holidays, weekends, and special events.
