Average No of Weekly Hours : 26 hours
Hourly Rate : $22.50
Candidates who are not enrolled in college at least to the end of calendar year 2025, are ineligible for Internship.
PROGRAM GOALS
The Village is currently accepting applications for a Civil or Environmental Engineering Intern who will receive on-the-job exposure through performance of a variety oftechnical engineering field and office duties, to include investigation, development, design, construction and maintenance of Village utilities.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education and Experience
- Candidates must be actively enrolled and attending an accredited college / university in the field of Civil or Environmental engineering.

Assist with reviewing plan submittals for consistency with departmental and industry standardsAssist in reviewing or conducting preliminary in-house designs of water and stormwater utilities infrastructureAssist with, or conduct, stormwater calculations, including impervious materials using GIS maps, county property appraiser information, or other dataAssist with identifying new and existing utilities infrastructure from as-built drawings and / or working with field staffPrepare construction progress charts for projectsAssist with project management duties and may lead / manage small projectsPrepare preliminary engineering reports, environmental reports, permits, plans, and specificationsInterprets drawings, blueprints, survey reports, maps, aerial photography, soils reports, environmental reports and other topographical geologic data to plan projectsProvides recommendations for system mapping for the assigned division / department of the VillageAssist with technical guidance and may answer questions regarding design and construction activitiesPerform basic administrative duties including written reports, memorandums, letters and electronic correspondence, interaction with the public and communication through telephone and meetingsAttend committee and staff meetings as assignedPrepare and present talks and presentations and participate in local Toastmasters organizationPerform other related duties and assume other responsibilities as necessary or as delegatedWORK ENVIRONMENT
May be required to work before or after hours and / or weekend hours for special eventsFrequently lifts and / or moves up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.Working conditions will vary to include an air conditioned office, with regular field activities resulting in exposure to outdoor elements, walking, sitting standing and other physical requirements
