Purpose of the Position
The Seasonal GIS and Office Assistant will support the municipality’s GIS and administrative functions by assisting with data entry, document attachment, and archival tasks. This position will primarily focus on updating GIS records by linking related documents to pipe networks and entering miscellaneous data to enhance system accuracy. Additionally, the assistant will provide general office support, including scanning, organizing, and archiving building plans and other municipal records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The general duties and responsibilities of the seasonal GIS and Office Assistant is to assist the public works department as well as other departments as needed. The following is a description of some of the specific duties and responsibilities for this position. GIS Responsibilities:
· Attach related documents (e.g., as-built drawings, inspection reports) to pipe networks within the municipality’s GIS system.
· Perform basic GIS data entry tasks, including updating and maintaining spatial and attribute data.
· Assist in quality control by verifying data accuracy and completeness.
· Conduct occasional fieldwork using a GPS unit to collect and update asset data, ensuring accurate location and attribute information.
· Learn and utilize GIS software to support various municipal projects as needed.
Office & Administrative Responsibilities:
· Scan, organize, and archive building plans and other municipal records.
· Assist with digital and physical file management to ensure proper document retention.
· Perform general clerical tasks, such as data entry, filing, and record organization.
· Provide support for special projects and other duties as assigned by supervisors.
This role requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a willingness to learn GIS and municipal record-keeping processes.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform related work as required or assigned by the management staff.
· Perform any other task which the employee is asked to perform.
Job Requirements
· At least 16 years of age.
· Must have a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and a good driving record.
· Must be in good physical condition.
· Good eyesight and hearing.
· Candidate must be a team player and able to undertake assigned tasks in a respectful, safe, efficient manner.
Work Environment
The work environment is generally that of a standard office. The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet. Minimal physical demand with minimal exposure to workplace hazards.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
