Under the general direction of the Public Works Superintendent, the Maintenance Worker I position entails performing maintenance work on street, storm drainage, and utility systems and/or equipment operation work performed to maintain and repair Village public works and water/sewer facilities. Previous experience in a Municipality is preferred, but not required. This position requires the employee to be on-call for emergencies out of regular work hours periodically throughout the year. Successful applicants for this position must possess the knowledge equivalent of a High School diploma with major course emphasis in a vocational program. One to two years of experience in Public Works and/or utilities operations work is preferred. Applicant should possess and maintain a current and valid Illinois driver's license with the appropriate “CDL” Class A endorsement. If not currently held, applicant must acquire within 1 year of employment. Applicant must be capable of passing a work related pre-employment physical examination and physical proficiency test.
