Winnetka’s Public Works Department is seeking applicants for a temporary full-time position of Seasonal Laborer in the Fleet Division.Essential Functions: Assist Fleet mechanics in performing basic maintenance, such as oil changes, basic preventative maintenance, fluid checks, and other services on Village fleet and equipment.Transport vehicles and parts between locations as needed.Perform general labor duties including, but not limited to, shop cleaning, organizing tools, inventorying parts and disposing waste materials. Assist mechanics with diagnosis or repair work as necessary. Maintain accurate records of fuel usage, vehicle conditions, and maintenance activities.Follow safety procedures and safety protocols in the maintenance and repair of village vehicles and equipment.Assist with other public works related duties as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.Basic mechanical knowledge and/or willingness to learn fleet maintenance operations.Ability to read, clearly speak, and legibly write the English language.Valid driver’s license. CDL preferred.
