We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Physical Therapy Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Physical Therapy Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting veterinarians in providing rehabilitative care to animals recovering from surgery, injury, or illness. You will work closely with both veterinary staff and pet owners to develop and implement individualized treatment plans aimed at improving mobility, reducing pain, and enhancing overall quality of life for our animal patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in evaluating animal patients and determining appropriate physical therapy interventions.
- Administer therapeutic exercises, stretches, and other modalities as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Perform massage therapy, hydrotherapy, and other hands-on techniques to improve range of motion and muscle strength.
- Educate pet owners on at-home exercises and care techniques to support the rehabilitation process.
- Maintain accurate records of patient progress, treatment plans, and communication with clients.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the physical therapy area and equipment.
- Collaborate with other veterinary team members to provide comprehensive care and support for animal patients.
Requirements:
- Licensed Veterinary Technician in New York State.
- Additional certification in physical therapy or rehabilitation (e.g., Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner) preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working in a veterinary setting, particularly in rehabilitation or physical therapy, strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively educate and interact with pet owners.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to animal care.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of diverse animal patients and their owners.
