At Villari Brothers, the Yard Jockey is responsible for providing support for our facility’s trailer movements, assisting the preparation of trailers for shipping, cleaning trailers, fueling of trailers, and temperature monitoring the status of loaded trailers.
Job Summary: We are seeking a versatile Yard Jockey/Shipping Cooler Associate to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient movement of trailers, safe handling of hogs, and maintaining the organization of our shipping cooler and cardboard box room. The ideal candidate will have experience in operating heavy machinery, handling livestock, and a strong commitment to safety protocols.
Job duties:
- Trailer Movement: Safely move trailers to and from loading docks using a yard truck.
- Positioning: Ensure trailers are correctly positioned at loading and unloading docks.
- Inspections: Conduct routine pre- and post-trip inspections of yard trucks and trailers.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of trailer locations and movements within the yard.
- Communication: Coordinate with dispatchers, drivers, and warehouse personnel to ensure efficient loading and unloading processes.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures while operating equipment and handling livestock.
- Livestock Handling: Safely and humanely move hogs within the shipping cooler and onto trailers.
- Cardboard Box Room Oversight: Monitor and maintain the organization of the cardboard box room.
- Gambrels: Efficiently handle gambrels as needed for processing.
- Pallet Jack Operation: Use a pallet jack to move materials and products within the facility.
- Cooler Management: Push hogs in the cooler and onto trailers to ensure proper storage and organization.
To qualify for this job, you must have:
- High school Diploma, GED,
- A favorable backcheck and Motor vehicle review.
- Ability to remain calm & focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to safely operate a yard truck.
- Ability to climb up and down from the yard truck multiple times per day.
- Ability to effectively communicate with the use of a plant assigned radio.

Proven experience as a Yard Jockey or in a similar role.
- Experience operating heavy machinery or commercial vehicles.
- Experience handling livestock, particularly hogs.
- Clean driving record
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with all safety protocols.
- Experience using a pallet jack.
