Description:

Ville Property Management is committed to providing affordable, no-barrier housing for the most vulnerable members of our community. We currently operate seven converted apartment complexes across Utah, offering over 250 affordable units to individuals who have experienced homelessness and receive rental assistance. In response to urgent community needs, we are expanding our impact by opening an emergency winter shelter. To support this initiative, we are actively seeking compassionate individuals to join our team and help operate the new shelter.

Ville Property Management is looking for employees that have a similar commitment to serving our community. We are seeking Shelter Advocates to help provide compassion and assistance for individuals who are experiencing homelessness and are seeking access to supportive services and shelter.

Position Status: Full-Time and Part-Time positions available

Shifts:

Full-Time Day Shift (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Full-Time Swing Shift (5:00 PM - 1:00 AM)

Full-Time Night Shift (1:00 AM - 9:00 AM)

Weekend Day Shift (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Weekend Swing Shift (5:00 PM - 1:00 AM)

Weekend Night Shift (1:00 AM - 9:00 AM)

Pay Rate: $18.00/hour

Benefits: Health Care Plan, Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick, and Public Holidays)

Anticipated Start date: November 4th, 2024

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma-informed, compassionate customer service guests.
  • Problem-solve community and guest concerns.
  • Create incident reports when appropriate and maintain guest log.
  • Provide occasional crisis intervention and collaborate with community resources such as EMS and law enforcement.
  • Assist Case Management in regulating activities and ensuring that guests follow rules and procedures.
  • Assist cleaning staff with identifying issues that need to be addressed.
  • Answer phones, take messages, and respond to the public.
  • Operate as part of a team that strives to serve the homeless in our community.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Experience working with diverse populations, experience working with individuals who have experienced homelessness or housing insecurity preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and excellent customer service skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress.
  • Follow strict data privacy guidelines.
  • Understand when to refer individuals or situations to medical, social, or supervisory resources.
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence.
  • Be flexible and adaptable.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Creativeness in problem-solving.
  • Willingness to accept supervision, direction, and constructive feedback.
  • Willing to be a proactive member of a team.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and handle difficult situations with professionalism and compassion from a Trauma-Informed Care framework.
  • Understanding of the Housing First philosophy. Willingness to have conversations with residents about housing.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations. Ability to contribute to the agency’s commitment to enhancing awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for at least an hour or more.
