Job Summary & Responsibilities:
Responsible for taking and processing all patient records efficiently and to the practice standard of quality and accuracy. Partners with the Treatment Coordinator as the new patient liaison to welcome the new patient to the practice, provide a patient tour and put them at ease, gather high-quality diagnostic records, build a rapport with the new patient and gather information about their reason for seeking treatment and treatment preferences. Partners with the clinical team to assist with diagnostic patient records when available. Full time position Monday - Thursday with occasional Friday.
Responsibilities:
New Patient Records
- Greet patient and tour of the practice.
- Assists patients in scheduling future appointments.
- Answers office phones and provides excellent communications during the interaction.
- Acts as a back fill for the Treatment Coordinator when she is out of the office.
- Take digital panorex and ceph X–rays.
- Verifies orthodontic insurance for patients.
- Follows up with all new patients that are referred to the practice.
- Provides excellent patient care with proffessionalism.
- Take photos.
- Gather information about the patient and relay to the Treatment Coordinator.
- Upload photos into computer software.
- Provide a positive first impression of the practice.
- Start records as needed (impressions, scan, wax bite registration, etc.)
- Miscellaneous patient records.
- Diagnostic clinical records for existing patients to support the clinical team when not taking new patient exam records.
- Restock records room (records and clinical supplies)
- Responsible for cleanliness of the records area.
- Change batteries in the camera as needed.
- Refill alginate containers every morning.
- Keep floors, counters, and sinks in the records room, treatment coordinator room and front lobby.
- Turn equipment on and off each day.
- Order the necessary supplies for records.
- Be an active participant in staff meetings and committee meetings.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the doctor.
- Work cohesively with fellow team members to provide an atmosphere of trust, mutual respect, and cooperation.
Education/Experience:
- Appropriate licensure and specialized training.
Skill/Abilities:
Clinical: Proficiency in all clinical skills
Interpersonal: Good interpersonal skills to maintain smooth running team environment throughout the office.
Verbal Skills: Effective verbal skills to communicate with doctors, referring dentists, parents, and patients.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in electronic treatment card and Microsoft Word. Computer entry, patient tracking, Imaging.
Problem Solving: Effective conflict resolution, problem identification, problem resolution, and decision-making skills.
Physical Attributes of Job:
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.
- Must have high manual dexterity.
- Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to reach, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, reach, kneeling, twist/turn.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
