Project Overview:
The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of Dragados, VINCI, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $3.3BN Design Build project –the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
The project scope across a 9-mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45’ diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue until the beginning of 2027.
As an Intern on the $3.3BN Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion Project (HRBT) in Virginia, you will be responsible to serve as project support by planning, organizing, and implementing project management principles. You will learn how engineering solutions come to life through human-centered design under the mentorship of one of our senior Engineers.
Principle Accountability and Responsibility:
This position is responsible for serving as project support by planning, organizing, and implementing project management principles. Supplementary activities will include preparing, processing, maintaining files, correspondence, schedules, reports, and billings, and developing and maintaining relationships with clients and project staff at all points of the project.
- Assist with evaluation of field conditions and acceptance testing
- Support quality assurance and quality control engineering materials testing
- Apply survey knowledge to assist with project layout and checking of work to confirm work is in conformance with plans and specifications
- Provide document control assistance for correspondence, submittals, design releases etc.
- Initiate engineering design clarifications
- Perform quantity tracking and productivity analysis for maximization of operation efficiency
- Assist with preparing and updating project schedule and interact will all involved in scheduling decision processes
Qualification:
Required:
- Pursuing or obtained Bachelors of Science of Civil Engineering, Construction Mgmt or similar degree
Strongly encouraged:
- US or Local Experience is a plus
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a customer service attitude and multitask throughout the day
