What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. ESP Mechanical Engineer position at Vinci?
SENIOR ESP MECHANICAL ENGINEER is required by our Client, within the Renewables industry, to be assigned on a Contract basis, located in Boston, MA.
POSITION SCOPE
The primary objective of this role is to define and specify the functional criteria and minimum requirements for the design of mechanical equipment and systems for marine platforms, as well as to supervise the compliance of these requirements by design contractors. These systems include fire protection, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), diesel generators, fuel supply systems, drainage systems, cranes, and lifting systems.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and specify the minimum criteria and requirements for the design of mechanical systems for marine platforms, considering internal methodologies, technical area requirements, and specific project conditions. This includes HVAC, fire protection, drainage, auxiliary generators, cranes, and lifting systems. As a representative of this area in the project, ensure compliance with the defined requirements, considering the needs of other areas served by these systems, adhering to general safety considerations, maximizing operational availability, and facilitating maintenance tasks.
- Prepare functional specifications for mechanical systems to contract the design of the marine platform for each project, including all project-specific requirements and those from other technical areas with direct influence on the design of mechanical systems (e.g., crane requirements based on implementation, adapting cooling design to the thermal loads of electrical equipment, adapting ventilation to room usage requirements). Depending on the legal framework applicable to each project, design phases may vary, potentially involving one or more contracting processes, including the preparation of contracting documentation and technical evaluation of bidders.
- Manage relationships with other technical areas influencing the design of mechanical systems for the marine platform throughout the different design stages, ensuring that design contractors consider all updated specific requirements (e.g., thermal loads of electrical equipment).
- Monitor and review the work of design contractors regarding the mechanical systems of the platform (plans and documentation), ensuring compliance with the specified requirements and maintaining a critical approach to achieve an optimal and well-founded design.
- Support other technical or project management areas as required, concerning the design of mechanical systems for the platform.
- Detect, generate, and implement the section's methodology applicable to the projects, as well as detect and implement lessons learned within its scope and maintain technological market surveillance.
