JOB TITLE: Bundschu Co Tasting Room Manager

JOB SUMMARY:
We are on the lookout for a dynamic and passionate hospitality and sales mentor, also known as our BCo Tasting Room Manager, to lead our tasting room teams. This pivotal role is essential in creating outstanding guest experiences, nurturing customer loyalty, and meeting revenue targets. The ideal candidate will inspire and motivate a diverse team, uphold our high standards of hospitality, and execute sales initiatives with enthusiasm and effectiveness.
Team Management and Support
- Lead, motivate, and develop a large, diverse team.
- Foster an inclusive and high-performance culture that emphasizes exceptional customer service.
- Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, and staff training sessions.
- Oversee all aspects of Tasting Room staff management, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions for multiple tasting rooms, currently Gundlach Bundschu and Abbot’s Passage.
- Drive operational excellence, accountability, and efficiency through the implementation of detailed and formalized processes and procedures.
- Oversee the time and attendance software including ADP and 7 Shifts.
- Complete Standard Operating Procedures (BOPs) for the department, to use for training and consistency.
Customer Experience & Engagement
- Define excellent, specific hospitality and customer service performance standards, aligned with Bundschu Company values, and manage staff to excel at these standards.
- Ensure that each visitor receives a memorable and engaging experience that aligns with our mission to convert customers into lifelong fans, and our goal of increasing visitor traffic, club/sales conversions and average order value.
- Act as the “maître d” in the tasting room, creating memorable interactions.
- Regularly collect and analyze customer feedback to enhance the tasting room experience.
- Oversee the presentation and promotion of wine offerings, enhancing the customer journey on both properties.
- Maintain a tasting room spirit that reflects the winery’s vision and standards, ensuring all activities align with the Bundschu Co. ethos.
Sales & Revenue Generation
- Drive revenue growth through innovative customer experiences and by achieving sales and club membership goals.
- Track sales and club performance metrics and mentor staff to achieve targets.
- Inspire the team to maintain a strong focus on achieving revenue and key performance indicator (KPI) goals.
- Collaborate with the Events Team to promote tasting room events and integrate them into the overall guest experience.
- Collaborate with the Estate to provide support and cross sales between Gundlach Bundschu and Abbot’s Passage Tasting Rooms.
- Monitor and report on KPIs, focusing on revenue per customer, visitor numbers, and club membership conversions.
- Drive operational excellence by tightly managing all costs associated with executing the business
- Oversee the accounting system (AMS) and point of sale system (TOCK) for the company and act as the department liaison with the Finance team.
Strategic Initiatives & Event Coordination
- Collaborate with the Estate Manager and Marketing to develop and execute strategic initiatives for the tasting room.
- Support the planning and execution of events, including oversight of Rhinefarm Estate Tastings in the tasting room, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and guest experience goals.
- Promote public events, concerts, and other programming that drive traffic and revenue.
AUTHORITIES:
- The ability to recruit, hire, train, and manage performance for a large, diverse team , including conducting performance reviews and implementing disciplinary actions as necessary.
- The authority to create and implement strategies that enhance the customer experience in the tasting room, ensuring that all interactions align with the winery’s mission and brand standards.
- The power to set sales targets, monitor performance metrics, and guide the team in achieving revenue and membership goals, including the ability to adjust strategies based on KPI analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience (3 years) in a managerial role within a high-volume retail or hospitality environment, preferably in the wine or food industry.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to drive sales and achieve performance targets.
- Experience with operational management, including inventory control and financial oversight.
- Knowledge of systems: AMS, TOCK, 7 Shifts, ADP preferred.
- Knowledge of wine and the wine industry. WSET or Sommelier Certification highly preferred.

- Can lift up to 40lbs
- Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
- Communicate clearly in English.
- Travel between locations by car.
