We’re hiring a Paralegal who will provide essential administrative and legal support to the Immigration Counseling Services (ICS) team, primarily assisting the staff attorney. This role involves preparing legal documents, managing client files, conducting research, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and organizational policies. Additionally, the Paralegal plays a key role in supporting monthly immigration counseling clinics and coordinating volunteer engagement.
An ideal candidate will be multilingual, with proficiency in English and at least one of the following: Spanish, French, or Arabic. If not already accredited by the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Paralegal must be willing to complete training and obtain accreditation, with resources provided by the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Legal Support & Case Management
- Prepare and draft legal documents, including petitions, forms, affidavits, and other filings for immigration cases.
- Assist in preparing applications for immigration benefits, including family petitions, adjustment of status, DACA, naturalization, and humanitarian relief such as asylum and U Visas.
- Maintain accurate and organized client files, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Gather supporting documentation and review case materials for accuracy before submission.
- Obtain and maintain DOJ accreditation.
Client Communication & Support
- Provide interpretation for in-person appointments and written communications as needed.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, offering case updates and responding to inquiries.
- Conduct initial intake reviews, gather relevant client information, and explain legal processes.
- Offer compassionate and professional assistance to clients navigating sensitive or urgent legal matters.
- Manage financial transactions, including invoices, cash, checks, and credit card payments.
Research & Compliance
- Conduct legal research on immigration laws, policies, and case precedents to support the ICS attorney.
- Stay informed of updates to immigration regulations and communicate relevant changes to the team.
- Ensure compliance with DOJ requirements for Immigration Counseling Services.
What you bring:
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field; paralegal certification is preferred
- Willingness to complete Department of Justice accreditation training (resources provided by Vineyard Community Center)
Experience:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a legal or administrative support role, preferably within immigration law or nonprofit settings
- Familiarity with immigration forms, filing procedures, and case management systems is preferred
- Experience coordinating and training volunteers
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software (in particular, LawLab)
- Strong research skills and the ability to analyze legal information
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are highly desirable
