We're looking for a Water/Wastewater Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our culinary water, secondary water, and wastewater systems. Here at Vineyard City, we call it our Environmental Utilities Manager-a title that reflects the unique impact you'll make in our community.
As the Water/Wastewater Manager, you will perform a variety of managerial, administrative, and technical duties to ensure the effective operation, maintenance, and repair of our culinary and secondary water systems, wastewater collection infrastructure, and related services. Your leadership will support the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of critical environmental utilities for our city.

What You'll Do
Leadership & Supervision
- Oversee and supervise Utilities Operators at all levels.
- Hire, train, and coach division staff to ensure operational excellence and compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and safety practices to support effective division operations.
- Prepare and manage division budgets, quotes, and purchasing requests.
Operational Management
- Direct day-to-day operations, including water and wastewater system maintenance, repair, and system inspections.
- Oversee water and wastewater assets, including SCADA systems and inventory control.
- Ensure state and federal compliance, such as EPA and Utah DEQ.
- Support maintenance inspections, repair infrastructure, and maintain operational records and reporting.
Customer Service
- Respond to customer concerns regarding water and wastewater services.
- Coordinate water shut-offs, repairs, and notices with contractors and the public.
Field Support
- Operate heavy and light equipment for system maintenance and repair.
- Support inspections on water and wastewater line installations and provide guidance on corrective actions.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent with advanced studies in Water Management, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or related fields.
- Eight (8) years of related work experience, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications:
- Water Distribution Certification Grade IV and Wastewater Collection Certification Grade IV (unrestricted).
- Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Confined Space Certification.
Additional Skills:
- Proficiency in SCADA systems and knowledge in GIS.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work on-call and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Cross Connection Control Program Administrator certification (State of Utah).
