Job Summary:

The Alternative Education Director/Teacher will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and continuous improvement of Vinita Public Schools' alternative education programs. This role requires a strong understanding of alternative education best practices, exceptional leadership and organizational skills, and a deep commitment to the success of all students. The Director/Teacher will work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, counselors, families, and community partners to ensure the provision of high-quality and effective alternative educational opportunities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive alternative education programs that align with district goals and state regulations.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate alternative education staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
  • Manage the budget and resources allocated to alternative education programs, ensuring efficient and effective utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to alternative education.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that support the effective operation of alternative education programs.
  • Collaborate with school principals and other district administrators to ensure seamless transitions and coordination of services for students in alternative education.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of individualized learning plans and behavior intervention strategies for students in alternative education.
  • Establish and maintain strong communication and partnerships with parents, guardians, community agencies, and other stakeholders involved in supporting alternative education students.
  • Analyze student data to monitor the effectiveness of alternative education programs and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
  • Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and legal developments in the field of alternative education.
  • Advocate for the needs of alternative education students and programs within the district and community.
  • Prepare and present reports on the progress and outcomes of alternative education programs to district leadership and the school board.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Valid Oklahoma Administrative Certification (Principal or Superintendent certification preferred).
  • Minimum of five years of successful experience in education, with significant experience in alternative education settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of alternative education principles, practices, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, resources, and personnel effectively.
  • Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • A strong commitment to the success of all students, particularly those in alternative education programs.

Terms of Employment:

  • Full-time

Reports To:

  • Principal or Assistant Principal

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective instruction aligned with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment that is conducive to student learning.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely and constructive feedback.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records.
  • Adhere to all school policies and procedures.

  • Full-time position

  • Employment is considered at-will and subject to annual evaluation.
  • Above state teacher salary schedule
