Job Title: Executive Director of Curriculum and Learning
Reports To: Superintendent
Summary:
Vinita Public Schools is seeking an Executive Director of Curriculum and Learning, as a key leadership position responsible for providing instructional leadership and support to ensure all scholars receive a high-quality education. The position will oversee the development and implementation of a rigorous and engaging curriculum that aligns with state standards and works to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum for all learners. The Executive Director of Curriculum and Learning will play a crucial role in supporting professional learning for educators and promoting a culture of continuous growth; where we will learn by doing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Lead the development, review, and implementation of district curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments.
- Ensure curriculum alignment with state standards and district goals.
- Develop and implement a system for monitoring and evaluating curriculum effectiveness.
- Stay in line with current research and best practices in education and integrate them into district practices.
- Professional Learning and Instructional Leadership:
- Provide professional learning opportunities for teachers, including workshops, coaching, and mentoring.
- Support the implementation of effective instructional strategies, such as differentiated instruction, technology integration, and project-based learning.
- Collaborate with building administrators to support instructional improvement at the school level.
- Lead the development and implementation of district instructional initiatives and strategic priorities.
- Represent Vinita Schools at state and regional curriculum and instruction meetings.
- Assessment and Data Analysis:
- Oversee the district's assessment program, including supporting the administration with analysis of standardized and district-wide assessments.
- Use data to inform instructional decisions and drive continuous growth with academics, behavior, and social skills/emotional regulation with educators and scholars.
- Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to student learning and achievement.
- Grant Writing, Management, and Program Development:
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities to support curriculum development, professional learning, and other initiatives.
- Assist in management of past, present, and future grant initiatives with local, state, and federal initiatives including Title I, Title II, Title III, and Title VI.
- Develop and implement innovative programs to enhance student learning.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and community members to ensure a shared understanding of the district's educational goals.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding curriculum initiatives, assessment results, and student progress.
- Represent the district at local and state education conferences and meetings.
- Supervise and support principals and instructional leaders alongside the Superintendent.
- Foster a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and student success.
- English Learner (EL) Instruction
- Support the district’s EL program, ensuring effective instruction and compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Provide training and coaching to teachers and staff working with multilingual learners.
- Monitor EL student progress and implement strategies to improve language acquisition and academic achievement.
- Gifted and Talented Education
- Supervise the district’s gifted and talented programs, ensuring equitable opportunities for advanced learners.
- Work with teachers and site leaders to implement enrichment opportunities and differentiated instruction.
- Ensure compliance with Oklahoma state regulations for gifted education.
- Beginning Teachers and Mentors:
- Serve as the District’s Beginning Teacher and Mentor Contact for Dept. of Ed.
- Coordinate Mentors for new to the profession teachers, on an Initial License, new to the district
- Provide training to all new teachers in the district in Year 1 and Year 2 of their Initial License
- Support Mentor training to all Mentors assigned to new to the profession teachers in the district
- Other Duties as Assigned:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education or a related field required.
- Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate.
- Minimum of 20 years of successful experience in education, including 5 years of experience in curriculum and instruction.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
- Experience with grant writing and program development (preferred).
- Knowledge of current educational research and better practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Strong commitment to student learning.
