Position Summary:
To provide high-quality learning opportunities and instruction to secondary students and foster a positive and engaging learning environment.
The High School English Teacher is responsible for teaching English language arts to students in grades 9-12. This includes delivering lessons in literature, writing, grammar, and critical thinking, as well as providing students with the skills necessary for effective communication. The teacher will also foster a positive and engaging classroom environment, promote academic success, and help students develop a passion for reading and writing.
Qualifications:
- Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and build positive relationships with students.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Commitment to professional growth and development.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
Reports To:
- Principal or Assistant Principal
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective instruction aligned with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment that is conducive to student learning.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively.
- Assess student learning and provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely records.
- Adhere to all school policies and procedures.
