What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Aide position at Vinson-Bynum Elementary?
Reports To: Teacher and Principal
Terms of Employment: Permanent, 10 Month Position
Nature of Work:
To provide care, treatment, and services within their scope of practice associated with the assigned student’s needs.
Qualifications and Licensure:
- High school or General Educational Development diploma
- Experience working with individuals with complex medical and educational needs
- Successful completion of a North Carolina state approved Nurse Aide I training program
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Nurse Assistant will provide care, treatment and services within their scope of practice, such as:
- Assist student with activities of daily living such as feeding, clothing, toileting, turning and repositioning, ambulation, orientation and mobility etc;
- Ride the bus with student to and from school ensuring student safety;
- Observe student to ensure safety within the educational environment;
- Engage in individual and small group activities with the student to support educational goals;
- And other duties as assigned pertaining to the student they are assigned to.
Physical Requirements (if applicable)
- Be able to lift and move objects including the student that weigh up to 50 pounds or more.
- Be able to stand and walk with the student.
- Be able to bend or kneel to assist the student.
