Duties and Responsibilities
- Entry-Level Recruitment
- Support the firm’s recruitment strategies by managing and coordinating efforts to attract and hire summer associates through the resume review process, student outreach efforts, interview process, candidate evaluations, and offer decision-making process
- Coordinate development and advancement initiatives for summer associates, ensuring effective integration through training, mentoring, pro bono work, experiential learning, and other career development activities
- Organize and execute recruitment events and summer associate activities for the local office(s)
- Coordinate the local onboarding process for new hires in the office(s)
- General Recruitment
- Collaborate with the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team to enhance recruitment efforts aimed at attracting diverse entry-level candidates
- Prepare and maintain recruitment reports and metrics to support the Talent Department functions
- Manage assigned budgets to control costs and use resources efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of candidate data and statuses for all entry-level candidates, ensuring reliable reporting and statistics for firm leadership
- Law School Engagement & Student Outreach
- Manage engagement efforts at assigned institutions, fostering relationships with key school contacts and student organizations.
- Propose and implement new initiatives to strengthen ties with law schools and enhance student group interactions. Manage law school donation requests and budgets for on-campus recruitment events
- Partner with the Events Department to coordinate large-scale recruitment events that require logistical support.
- Develop and execute outreach strategies for select law schools, enhancing the firm’s visibility among students.
- Work with recent summer associates/law school grads to get insight into candidate needs/expectations.
- Support social media campaigns targeting law students to boost engagement and recruitment
- Management
- Supervise local office Entry-Level Recruitment Assistants and Coordinators within your region, providing leadership and direction needed to support individual and firm goals.
- Offer mentorship and guidance related to the career development plans for Assistants and Coordinators
- Provide consistent and constructive feedback to Assistants and Coordinators to foster professional growth and enhance team performance
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must be located in Houston
- Willingness to travel for law school and student outreach events as needed
- Ability to travel occasionally and work late hours
- Ability to navigate time pressures and constraints effectively
Minimum Qualification
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Four or more years of progressively responsible experience in a law firm or similar environment, with a preference for recruitment experience.
- Proficient in financial and statistical reporting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional demeanor when interacting with internal and external clients.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making abilities. Capable of handling sensitive and confidential documents while ensuring project completion.
- Demonstrates creativity and innovation in problem-solving and project management.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a knack for managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Reacts with appropriate urgency to situations that require quick responses or turnaround.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management.
- Skilled at maintaining positive relationships with personnel at all levels.
