Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Setup conference and multipurpose rooms, including moving and arranging tables and chairs, placing linens, and supplies in rooms.
- Provide beverage service, maintain beverage stations/stock, and room tidiness throughout the meeting / event.
- Remove beverages, used dishes and glassware, and clean and restocks room upon the meetings completion.
- Ensure rooms are dry set for the next function.
- Setup catering service for meetings and events in the conference center, including arraigning chaffing and service equipment, transferring and plating catered food into the Firm’s serving dishes, serving meals to clients and monitoring buffet lines to meet the Firm’s high standards of presentation.
- Remove food, break down and clean buffet equipment and serving dishes following meal service.
- Ensure catering equipment is put away clean and timely.
- Collect, wash, dry and put away all plates, glassware, flatware and serving pieces and dishes used within the Conference Center throughout the day.
- Bus rooms during and following meal service, exchange busing carts inside rooms, and collect dishes / other trash from tables and servers.
- Clean all carts, mats, and service items daily.
- Ensure all conference center equipment is clean, presentable, and ready to return to service before the close of the day.
- Maintain Conference Center rooms, catering kitchens, and storages spaces, ensuring that they are clean, organized, and fully restocked.
- Maintain kitchen equipment, including cleaning beverage and ice machines, clearing food from catering refrigerators and deep cleaning coffee / tea pitchers.
- Ensure catering kitchens are adequately stocked with supplies and dry goods are ready for service.
- Maintain coffee bars throughout the day, including brewing fresh coffee and tea, providing dry goods and restocking supplies for use, cleaning beverage machines and other coffee bar appliances.
- Report faulty equipment or low stock items to management.
- Ensure each coffee bar has adequate supplies for service, is organized, clean, and maintains the Firm’s high standards of presentation.
- Reports faulty equipment to the Meeting and Events Manager or Meetings and Events Coordinator.
- Provide fax, copy and other administrative duties as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- This job requires the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, and the ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
- This position is often subject to time and pressure constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.
- Long hours including nights and weekends are required.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of catering, conference center, or banquet/event experience.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette; and knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware positioning.
- Experience with facsimile and copy machine and PC, including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
- Understanding of basic mixology, bartending and service practices.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attention to detail and ability to work as a member of a team.
- Must be dependable, demonstrate a sense of urgency, and employ excellent consolidation and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate over a headset.
