Housekeeping Supervisor for Busy Grants Pass Hotels
JOB SUMMARY
The Housekeeping Supervisor assists the General Manager and/or Housekeeping Manager in overseeing the everyday operations of the Housekeeping Department ensuring customer satisfaction and the physical condition of the property while maintaining a culture of respect and teamwork. The Housekeeping Department is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment for our guests. Guestrooms, lobby, corridors, parking lots and building exteriors all are under the umbrella of the Housekeeping Department.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Housekeeping Supervisor reports directly to the Housekeeping Manager, General Manager and Assistant General Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Satisfaction and Comfort of Guests:
- Responding to all guest requests in a positive and prompt manner
- Ensuring that exemplary customer service is the priority of all housekeeping staff
- Ensuring the guestrooms are clean, correctly supplied and in good working order, and in compliance with Vintage Hotel’s standards
- Ensuring guestroom amenities are clean, in good working order and replaced when needed
- Walking the property daily to ensure the physical condition of the property is maintained to standards and free of safety hazards
Personnel:
- Providing effective leadership, training, team building and ongoing employee development
- Adhering to, and enforcing, all company policies and procedures
- Maintaining adequate staffing levels:
- Calling additional staff in to work when needed
- Calling staff off when occupancy doesn’t warrant the labor
- Working as a Room Attendant or Houseperson whenever necessary
- Communicating employee issues or concerns to the Housekeeping Manager before they become serious problems
- Reporting any incidents of discrimination, harassment or suspected drug and alcohol policy violations immediately – either to the Housekeeping Manager, General Manager or directly to the Vintage Hotel’s HR Department
- Reporting continuous performance issues to the Housekeeping Manager
Daily Duties:
- Reporting damage found in rooms or on property to the Housekeeping Manager, General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Front Desk and Maintenance Department (Work Orders)
- Communicating with the Front Desk regarding status of rooms
- Covering Room Attendant or Houseperson shifts or duties, as needed
- Ensuring all tasks assigned to Room Attendants are completed and company property is returned (keys, tablets, walkie talkies) prior to their clocking out for the day
- Inspecting departed guest rooms after Room Attendants have marked them as completed
- Assisting Room Attendants and Housepersons to keep them on task and on time, including stripping rooms, making beds and other duties, as needed
- Generating reports from the Property Management System to assess any special requirements for guests arriving that day
- Generating reports from the Property Management System to assign task sheets to housekeeping team members for the day
- Ensuring linen is being laundered at a pace that supports the needs of the hotel
- Ensuring proper linen pars are maintained and that day-to-day linen needs are adequately met
- Ensuring stock rooms are clean, organized and well supplied as directed by the Housekeeping Manager
- Mastering the use and safety requirements for cleaning equipment (vacuums, carpet cleaners, ionizers, etc.) and ensuring that they are maintained in good condition and repaired/replaced as needed
- Training staff to correctly use cleaning equipment and to following maintenance procedures to keep them in good repair
- Using, and training staff, to properly and safely use cleaning chemicals
- Maintaining SDS books and updating, as requested by the Housekeeping Manager
- Completing weekly inventories as requested by the Housekeeping Manager
- Logging and storing lost and found items from guestrooms
- Submitting Incident Reports, as required by Vintage Hotel’s policies
- Performing other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous related work experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- High School Diploma or GED
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Must pass a criminal background check
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work requires repeated bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing of stairs
- Work requires use of mechanized cleaning equipment such as vacuums, carpet shampooers and ionizers
- Work requires repeated contact with cleaning chemicals
- Possibility of encountering bodily fluids and other situations where strict procedures must be followed
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
- Up to 50% of the work can be outdoors in all season temperatures
WORK HOURS AND WAGE
- Day shifts, weekends and holidays
- Hourly position, Non-Exempt
- $16.50 per hour
