Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for coordinating installations, repairs and upkeep on machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings. They will work with the Maintenance department to regularly inspect sites, execute work as necessary and assign workers to various projects. Duties may involve pipe fitting; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings. This position will help to support the achievement of established operating objectives by overseeing the maintenance department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogs as necessary.

Detects faulty operations of equipment and/or defective materials and notify management.

Inspects, operates and tests machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.

Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassembles equipment.

Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines and equipment continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

Assembles, installs and/or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe and plumbing systems, machinery and equipment.

Allocates workload and supervise maintenance staff.

Inspects drives, motors, belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters and performs other maintenance actions, following checklists.

Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.

Records maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work.

Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery.

Disassembles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools.

Participates in all company training.

Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.

15. Operates company vehicles/equipment in a safe and courteous manner and properly parks and secures vehicles at all times.

Obey traffic laws and follows established traffic and transportation procedures.

17. Follows all company policies, procedures and safety rules. Conduct self at all times in a professional, ethical and courteous manner as a representative of the company.

• Three to seven years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Specific knowledge, experience, troubleshooting and repair of production equipment including: 480v 3phase electric required.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with staff.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.
• Ability to write correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the following:

• Database software, Internet software, Preventative Maintenance software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

· Valid driver’s license required to travel to various job sites or ability or provide own transportation for necessary job function.

· Tow Motor Certification.
