Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve three meals per day (breakfast, lunch, and snack) following USDA and CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) guidelines.
- Plan and create nutritious, well-balanced menus that meet state and federal portion size requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Complete and pass ServSafe Food Manager Certification (or be willing to obtain it upon hiring).
- Work alongside educators to integrate food as an educational component, promoting healthy eating habits for young children.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and food storage to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with staff to meet the needs of children with allergies or dietary restrictions.
- Follow all state and local childcare food regulations and participate in inspections as required.
- Ensure a safe and fun environment for children and staff in and around the food service area.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Must complete (or be willing to complete) ServSafe Food Manager Certification.
- Previous food service experience is preferred, but we are happy to train the right person!
- Ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, and work independently in a busy childcare setting.
- Comfortable working in an environment with young children and occasional noise and activity.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with staff and families.
- Passion for nutrition, child development, and creating a positive food culture.
