Job Description : Safety Manager – Commercial HVAC Manufacturing

Position Title : Safety Manager

Department : Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)

Location : Dallas, 75247

Position Summary

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a safe workplace in a commercial HVAC manufacturing environment. This position focuses on minimizing risks, enhancing safety awareness, and ensuring the well-being of employees while supporting the production of large-scale HVAC units.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Program Development and Implementation

  • Design, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to HVAC manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and maintain safety training programs, including onboarding, annual refreshers, and task-specific instruction.

Incident Prevention and Investigation

  • Monitor workplace conditions to identify unsafe practices or equipment and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead investigations of workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective measures.
  • Maintain detailed records of incidents, corrective actions, and safety compliance efforts.
  • Employee Engagement and Training

  • Foster a culture of safety by engaging employees in safety initiatives, programs, and committees.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on safe equipment operation, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure all employees understand and comply with safety protocols through effective communication and follow-up.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Prepare and submit required safety and environmental reports to regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaboration and Leadership

  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to integrate safety into all manufacturing processes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during audits and inspections.
  • Lead safety committees and encourage cross-functional participation in safety initiatives.
  • Qualifications

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in HVAC or heavy equipment manufacturing.
  • Skills and Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and develop safety programs tailored to manufacturing environments.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and train employees at all levels.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP (Associate Safety Professional) preferred.
