POSITION TITLE: Logistics Coordinator
POSITION REPORTS TO: Senior Manager of Logistics
DEPARTMENT: Production & Logistics
POSITION EFFECTIVE: April 25, 2024
POSITION SUMMARY
The Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the logistics team and its operations, coordinating, and optimizing our project schedules. The role will be pivotal in ensuring efficient resource allocation, timely project completion, and seamless workflow within our logistics area to include transportation, inventory management, and distribution, to meet customer requirements and operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive logistic schedule in collaboration with project managers, designers, and logistics team.
- Coordinate transportation logistics, including scheduling shipments, selecting carriers, and reviewing rates to ensure timely delivery of materials and products.
- Monitors work progress and adjusts schedules as needed to meet changing demands.
- Collects and compiles data from various departments, including logistics, production, procurement, inventory, and quality assurance.
- Utilize Excel to create and maintain detailed spreadsheets for scheduling, inventory tracking, and reporting purposes.
- Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and customers to track shipments, resolve issues, and provide timely updates on delivery status.
- Develop and maintain relationships with logistics service providers to ensure reliable and cost-effective transportation solutions.
- Works with the procurement and inventory team tracking materials, ensuring a continuous supply for logistic needs.
- Maintains accurate records of wood and hardware inventory, and coordinates with procurement team for timely replenishment.
- Facilitates clear and effective communication between different departments, ensuring everyone is informed of project status and deadlines.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and resource constraints.
- Collaborates with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all products meet our high standards of craftsmanship and quality.
- Implements best practices and standard operating procedures to streamline operations.
- Follows all safety procedures and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no direct reports.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to transportation and logistics operations.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data gathering.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, external partners, and customers.
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and other logistics software applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically MS Excel for scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma/GED required.
- 1-3 years’ experience in logistics, warehousing, or transportation with scheduling, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- A willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus, but not required.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and listen for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift to 25 pounds, bend, walk, and climb stairs.
- Varying work schedules to meet client demand is sometimes required.
