YOUR MISSION (The Job Description)
The Buyer acts under the authority of the Director of Purchasing and directly with the Purchasing Department Chain of Command. (Purchasing Manager and/or Lead/Senior Buyer.) Purchase a variety of items which require technical analysis and discretion, through either informal purchasing methods or formally negotiated contract techniques; perform related work as required.
Requirements:
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)
This role will perform the following duties including, but not limited to:
Work independently to negotiate prices, services, terms, and assigned commodities with vendors
Convert requisitions to purchase orders using the Stratton Warren computer program
Maintain relationship with assigned departments to oversee the commodities
Provide feedback to vendors and encourage vendor involvement when necessary
Monitor vendor performance by troubleshooting and resolving issues, their ability to meet delivery schedules and deadlines, timelines, and product feedback from departments
Work with receiving and inventory control to ensure delivery and receiving process is accurate to PO.
Perform other procurement duties deemed necessary for the success of the department
This is an in-office, non-remote position
WHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)
Must be familiar with purchasing and inventory systems, preferably Stratton Warren
Must have strong organizational administrative skills
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
Must be able to effectively use standard office equipment including but not limited to a computer, facsimile machine, copy machine, calculator, and telephone
Must have excellent communication skills
Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary licenses and/or certifications
MUST HAVE'S
Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
Must be at least 21 years of age
Two (2) years of experience in purchasing or inventory control required, preferably in the hospitality industry
THE WORKING CONDITIONS
Although buyers typically work Monday- Friday, business demands may require additional time and work on the weekends
Work is performed in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment
Candidates must be able to frequently move freely about the office, maintain manual dexterity to access computer via computer keyboard and operate office equipment, such as telephones, copiers, fax machine, etc., withstand various activities such as frequent walking, sitting for long periods and withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, and kneeling without restriction. and lift or carry a minimum of 20 pounds unassisted
Candidates may be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to CRT fatigue, noise, dust, cigarette smoke, and be able to access all areas of the property
