SUMMARY: The Animal Care Technician provides daily care, enrichment, and promotes the safety and health of our pets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows established disease control protocols to clean, disinfect, and sanitize kennels, equipment, walkways, general areas, and other job-related item daily.
- Ensures all animals are adequately fed, provided water, as well as housed and cared for within the Five Freedoms or Animal Welfare guidelines.
- Handle animals humanely sand safely using safety equipment if necessary.
- Be able to recognize signs of illness or behavior changes and update the appropriate team.
- Cultivates positive client, volunteer, and coworker relations through professional, courteous, and educational interactions.
- Provides quality customer service to clients, volunteers, and staff while actively promoting our mission, services, programs, and events.
- Provides our animal population with sufficient daily exercise and time outside of their kennels.
- Assist clients with adoptions; facilitates client and animal interactions to ensure safe and pleasant experience.
- Complete daily tasks as outlined on our Daily ACT Task Sign Off sheet.
- Creates and maintains necessary animal records and data entry.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 6 months working/volunteering with domestic animals in an animal shelter, veterinary hospital, or another animal facility preferred. NOTE: Any applicable volunteer or work experience should be listed and include hours worked and job duties.
- Candidates must be flexible and able to work all shifts, including starting as early as 5am and finishing as late as 8pm. Working weekends and holidays.

.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly required to stand, walk on all types of surfaces, sometimes slippery and/or uneven and rough.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs and perform duties that require lifting, bending, and stooping.
- Working with and/or around others often and will experience frequent interruptions.
- Environmental factors can be indoors or outdoors and working in the extreme heat of Arizona summers.
