Position Overview
The Claims Manager is responsible for overseeing the processing of approved claims within the Virginia Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Program. This role involves managing a team of up to five people, ensuring that claimants are paid accurately and in a timely manner. The Claims Manager will identify and resolve any issues in the claims processing workflow to improve efficiency. This position is Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the processing of approved claims, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments.
Manage a team of up to five staff members, providing guidance and support.
Identify and resolve bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the claims processing workflow.
Collaborate with Claims Coordinators and other Claims Manager to ensure seamless communication and efficient handling of claims.
Monitor and track the progress of claims through the processing stage.
Develop and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of claims processing.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines related to claims processing.
Prepare reports and summaries of claims processing activities for management review.
Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and performance.
Qualifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
Proficiency in using Microsoft suite and other relevant software.
Knowledge of claims processing procedures and regulations is preferred.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Education & Experience
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred.
5 years of experience in claims management or a related field.
Experience in the healthcare or insurance industry is a plus.
Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role is preferred.
