This is a hybrid work opportunity that requires the individual work 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. Due to the weekly onsite requirement, candidates must be local to the Richmond, Virginia area. **Healthcare experience is highly preferred**

Systems Engineers are process improvement experts who apply engineering and lean six sigma (LSS) principles and methods to healthcare processes to increase value at VCU Health System as a part of the Quality Safety and Service programs, reporting to the Chief Quality and Safety Officer.

The Systems Engineer applies LSS expertise at a black belt level to patient value streams throughout the organization using applicable improvement tools and methods such as Six Sigma, 8D, 5-Why, and PDSA. The Systems Engineer leads large cross-functional teams through successful execution of change and provides leadership, facilitation, coaching, teaching, and consultative technical support to VCU Health process owners.

The Systems Engineer ensures corporate compliance with regulations and company policies. This position may adopt one or more specialty knowledge areas.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent required Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: N/A Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of ten (10) years of experience applying LSS with demonstrated success. Experience with selecting KPIs in Safety, Quality, and Cost areas. Experience utilizing project management methodologies. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project, Access and Outlook. Experience PREFERRED: Experience leading lean transformational efforts in complex organization. Understanding of healthcare industry & basic terminology. Experience in a complex academic medical center, solving clinical and business problems. Experience teaching and coaching Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Experience as a facilitator of culture change. A demonstrated track record of successfully working with and motivating diverse work teams, preferably including physician, facilitating complex teams and managing change. Education/training REQUIRED: Master's Degree in Quality Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent years of relevant work experience in addition to minimally required work experience Education/training PREFERRED: N/A Independent action(s) required: Analytical thinking, process thinking, and an instinctive understanding of process variation Excellent judgment and objectivity Strong communication & presentation skills Strong sense of ownership and personal accountability. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: Day Shift with occasional early or late hours or weekends to allow for meetings/activities requiring interaction with team members providing clinical care during regular business hours.
