The Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department of the College of Engineering seeks culturally and professionally diverse candidates to apply for CFD Simulation Specialist position.

Position Responsibilities:
The CFD specialist will be responsible for conducting simulations of aerosol transport and deposition in the respiratory airways, under direction of Dr. Worth Longest and the Aerosols in Medicine Lab, in the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department of VCU.
Specifically, duties include:
-Developing complete-airway models of aerosol transport and deposition in the respiratory tract
-Validating these models with experimental data
-Applying these models to solve challenging problems in the field of medical aerosols
-Writing related scientific journal articles and presenting conference presentations
-Networking with and presenting to project sponsors
Required Qualifications:
-MS or PhD in an engineering field, such as mechanical, biomedical, chemical or environmental.
-Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Generation of complex mesh geometries, preferably of biological systems.
-Experience with the application of CFD to aerosol transport and deposition in the lungs.
-Publications on the use of CFD modeling.
