Duties & Responsibilities

Summary:

The Research on Excessive Persistent and Emotion-based Actions and Traits (REPEAT) Lab in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University is recruiting to fill 2-3 Clinical Research Coordinator positions. These positions will provide support for various research projects conducted by the Principal Investigator, Dr. Ann Haynos, most of which investigate the neurobiology and treatment of eating disorders and other disorders of rigidity (e.g., obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders). Current projects include using a range of methods (fMRI, neurocognitive measures, computational modeling, ambulatory assessment, clinical interviews) to investigate how people develop and maintain eating disorders and related disorders, and how to target these processes in treatment.

Employees acknowledge that positions are grant-funded and understand that the continuation of the positions depends on the continuation of grant funding.

Typical Duties

The Clinical Research Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating clinical research studies that involve individuals with eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other psychological concerns in a compliant and efficient manner. Under the direction of the PI, the incumbent will collaborate with all members of the clinical research team to ensure all federal, state, university, and protocol requirements are followed, institutional research objectives are met, and that ethical obligations are kept.

Job activities include but are not limited to:
•assisting with lab organization and planning;
•recruiting, screening, and enrolling participants into lab studies;
•coordinating research procedures (including administer fMRI, neurocognitive measures, ambulatory measures, and clinical interviews);
•maintaining regulatory and compliance requirements, including appropriate study documentation/record;
•supervising undergraduate volunteers;
•managing, cleaning, and analyzing study data; and
•assisting with manuscript and grant preparation.

The position will allow knowledge and skill development related to conducting neuroimaging procedures and complex statistical and computational analysis, interfacing with clinical populations, and working within a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment. This is an excellent opportunity for obtaining research and clinical experience prior to applying for graduate or medical school, and will involve professional development, including the ability to work on publications, conference talks, and grants.
