Mission or Goal of Unit: Our vision is to be the
premier orthopaedic provider in the central Virginia region. Our mission
is to provide superb clinical care to our patients, educate the next generation
of orthopaedic surgeons and expand the orthopaedic knowledge base through
basic, clinical and translational research utilizing excellent,
evidence-based, efficient patient care along with thorough and responsive
consultation in general orthopaedic services for orthopaedic patients across
the health system. Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery invites qualified candidates to
apply for this exciting opportunity for a general orthopaedic
surgeon. This position will provide high quality general orthopaedic care for patients at VCU Health System in both inpatient and outpatient settings as part of a multidisciplinary team and have an opportunity to contribute to ongoing clinical quality improvement initiatives. The faculty member will collaborate with other faculty to provide teaching and mentoring opportunities to medical students, residents and, fellows. This position will have an opportunity to contribute to clinical research based on experience and interest Position Responsibilities: Teaching Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:
The candidate will staff
inpatient services with learners including medical students, interns and
residents; use contemporary adult learning methods to promote evidence-based
practice; demonstrate effective teaching skills and continually develop as a
teacher for learners at all levels; complete required evaluations of learners
in a timely manner.
Research
The candidate will participate in clinical and administrative
research, according to skills, interest and funding; research opportunities may
include performance improvement initiatives or formal extramurally funded
investigations; participation may be as principal investigator or
co-investigator; maintain a level of scholarship in Orthopaedic Surgery
consistent with academic rank.
Service
The candidate will work with
institutional staff and administration to attain the strategic objectives of
VCU Health System, including patient safety, patient and other customer
satisfaction, maintenance and enhancement of public perception, and fiscal
health.
Clinical
The candidate will admit and
manage patients who present through the general orthopaedic service,
co-management of patients on other services, triage medicine patient requiring
admission in the Emergency Department and non-medical services and non-VCU
hospitals; join colleagues in assuring coverage 24-hours a day, every day of
the year; comply in a timely manner with all institutional policies for
professional work including credentialing, documentation, billing; work
effectively with other members of the extended inter-professional team.
Administrative
The candidate will ensure compliance with all
regulatory and regulatory reimbursement requirement.
