Duties & Responsibilities

Position Summary: This position serves as a program facilitator for a multidisciplinary, hospital-based alternate sentencing program for youth and adults with charges related to impaired driving and substance misuse. The position is situated at VCU Health Properties and partner agencies under the direction of the Injury & Violence Prevention Program. The Facilitator will be responsible for facilitating group sessions, conducting intakes of clients, supporting the development of programming services, collecting data, and acting as the first point of contact for participants under the direction of the GRACY program lead. This job requires dependable transportation for training at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia.


 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist with and facilitate monthly sessions of GR-ACY.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for participants and referral sources.
  • Collaborate with VCU Health System staff and volunteers to ensure coverage for all GR-ACY sessions.
  • Collect and input all required data to include participant follow-ups and evaluations 
  • Assist with the creation of a participant recruitment plan to include in-hospital and community referrals
  • Assist the GRACY Coordinator with planning, implementing and coordinating existing and new programs and services.
  • Responsible for scheduling and conducting participant intakes.
  • The ability to work some evenings (1-2) per week and weekends (1-2) per month.
Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Standards:

  • Associate's degree in social work, counseling or other human services field OR 3-5 years of experience
  • Experience in substance use disorder
  • Experience in the facilitation of groups
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student body or a commitment to do so as a staff member

Preferred Hiring Standards:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, or other human services field
  • 1-3 years of experience working with substance use disorder education and prevention
  • Ability to collect analyze, and interpret information for senior leaders
  • Fluent in Spanish
