Medicine is a premier

VCU’s
School of Medicine is seeking collaborative and experienced HR
professionals to fill several HR Administrator (HRA) positions
supporting
faculty and staff within clinical departments in the School. HR
Administrators
are critical positions within departments and will serve as the subject
matter
expert and internal asset for HR policy and procedures as they relate to
staff
and faculty, including recruitment, hiring, performance management,
compliance,
process improvement, benefits/leaves, compensation, employee relations
(in
conjunction with VCU and VCUHS HR), payroll/timekeeping, and
terminations.
Additionally, they will be responsible for developing, implementing and
coordinating department projects related to Human Resources management.
HRAs
oversee departmental compliance with HR policy and procedures,
evaluation, and
other department-level HR initiatives. These positions will manage staff
and
faculty affairs for the entire department to include collaboration with
associate administrators and departmental leadership in the creation of
roles,
recruitment, candidate selection and on-boarding. The HRAs will serve as
an important resource to department and division leaders and staff.
Human Resources Management and Administration: - Oversees the day-to-day HR functions for the department, in a timely and
accurate manner, and in accordance with University and Health System policies
and procedures
- Serves as subject matter expert and internal resource for HR policy and
procedures for staff and faculty, including recruitment, hiring/onboarding,
performance management, process improvement, benefits/leaves, compensation,
employee relations, payroll/timekeeping and terminations
- Collaborates with Division Chairs and Department Administrators to initiate
and complete recruitment process in Talent/Cornerstone
- Applies knowledge of administrative policies and procedures, federal and
state laws and policies, rules, regulations for Human Resources
- Responsible for maintaining and communicating with department staff and
faculty the HR policies with respect to leaves, recruiting, compensation, etc.
- Oversees departmental compliance with HR policy and procedure and other
department level HR initiatives
- Maintains all records, processing needs and changes for staff and faculty,
including PAF changes
- Attends all required training sessions/meetings to include HR partners
- Updates Department Chair, Administrator, and Financial Manager of all HR
related activities and policy/procedural changes
- Creates and updates policies and procedures as they relate to staff human
resources activities and management
- Counsels and guides Associate Administrators, Division Chairs and other
supervisors with HR related matters to include disciplinary procedures,
recruitment, hiring, and staff development
- Coordinates all VCUHS HR efforts and processes for the Department and each
Division
- Provides training to all staff and faculty for VCU and VCUHS initiatives,
updates, and policy/procedure changes
Other Duties as Assigned: - Participates in special projects as identified in support of the School of
Medicine, and VCU’s new Great Place policy and service delivery model
- Provides back-up support for the SOM HR team

Qualifications |
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Experienced using VCU HR/VCUHS systems, including, but not limited to: Banner,
Cornerstone/Talent, SWP, RealTime, Workday, etc.
- HR experience in a higher education environment or medical academic environment
- Experience in general management and supervision of professional staff
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification desired
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in human resources management
- Experience in partnering with managers to resolve employee conflicts and
situations in a timely manner
- Strong consultative skills with a proven ability to develop relationships
and build partnerships with internal teams and stakeholders in a diverse
organization
- Ability to exercise strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
and to set/meet deadlines, organize workload and juggle changing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
appropriately and with discretion
- Ability to interpret, explain and apply HR policies, state and federal
regulations and protocols
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision as well as in a team
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent analytical skills; ability to make independent decisions and serve
as a consultant to other administrative staff regarding policies and procedures
- Demonstrated experience
working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and
civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various
backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
