Duties & Responsibilities

Position Summary: The Manager oversees a multidisciplinary, hospital-community-based educational outreach program focused on reducing unintentional injuries and increasing awareness of the consequences of trauma and high-risk behaviors. This role supports the university's mission and strategic objectives through the daily administration of the IMPACT program, which includes the supervision and development of staff and the delivery of program services.

The Manager is responsible for coordinating and implementing multiple components of a comprehensive or specialized program, setting and achieving programmatic goals for the IMPACT program, and aligning operational strategies with executive and senior leadership directives. Key responsibilities include managing the IMPACT team, tracking and analyzing client outcomes using the RedCap system, preparing timely reports for grant providers, and ensuring the delivery of impactful, evidence-based interventions.

This position requires strong leadership, data management, and program development skills to ensure the success and sustainability of educational outreach initiatives. Identify funding opportunities, cultivate donor relationships, and write grants, applications, and reports required by funders.



Core Responsibilities:

Program Administration and Development
Oversee entire project and all teams. Plan, implement, and coordinate existing and new programs and services for both internal operations and community partners.
Work with IVPP Leadership on the development and execution of strategic initiatives to meet programmatic goals and objectives.
Work with IVPP Leadership, SOMRA, and Trauma Leadership to integrate programs internally to hospital processes and externally to community partners.
Work with IVPP leadership on expansion of program to new areas across state.

Team Leadership and Supervision
Directly oversee and manage the IMPACT Team, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
Supervise and support staff development to maintain a high-performing, collaborative team environment.
Host weekly program meetings and individual staff supervision meetings.

Data Management and Reporting
Oversee collection of data, evaluation, pre-posttest, and reports are accurate and timely data entry by staff in tracking systems and electronic records programs.
Develop or oversee the preparation of detailed data reports for internal use and external stakeholders.
Prepare and submit any grant funded reporting requirements on time. Review data, program and activity reporting, and review timesheets for all finance reporting.
Work with the IVPP leadership and IVPP programs manager on all reporting requirements.
Work with the Research and Evaluation lab to ensure program evaluations are conducted and in compliance with evaluation best practices. Participate in auditing team program activities and evaluation reviews to ensure best practices are in place.

Partnerships and Collaboration
Foster and maintain strong collaborative relationships with VCU Health internal teams and external community partners.
Represent the program at events, client and community support requests, and other organizational needs.
In tandem with IVPP leadership, develop new partnerships for existing programs and seek out new opportunities.

Resource Management
Manage equipment, property, and other resources assigned to the unit to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with organizational standards.
Maintain knowledge of purchasing equipment, reporting structures for grants, and invoicing.

Publication and Presentation Requirements.
Participate in presenting program successes at conferences as indicated and available funding.
In concert with IVPP leadership and Research, write up papers for publication on successes and lessons learned annually. Submit to research publications and journals.
Prepare to present annually on program internally at VCU and in larger regional and national conferences.

Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Standards:

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or another human service field with 5-7 years of experience in the field.
  • Experience in public speaking
  • Experience in facilitation of groups and managing a team of 3-5 people.
  • Experience in working with youth
  • Ability to travel overnight 4-5 times annually to support program operations, training, or outreach activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office (Word. Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Dependable Transportation



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or another human service field.
  • Licensure and ability to supervise social work or other human services staff and students.
  • 3-5 years of experience working directly with high school students.
  • Minimum of 3 years managerial experience with direct reports.
