What are the responsibilities and job description for the Post-Doctoral Fellow - Dept. of Pharmacology and Toxicology position at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)?
Virginia Commonwealth University is an equal opportunity, affirmative action university providing access to education and employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, political affiliation, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or disability.
Position Summary:
There is an immediate opening for a joint Post Doctoral Fellow in the laboratories of Drs. E. Skordalakes and M. Hartman at Massy Cancer Center, VCU. The two laboratories are interested in developing cancer therapeutics that target KRAS, telomerase, and related complexes. In order to identify and validate the inhibitory activity of these molecules against KRAS and telomerase, we utilize a multidisciplinary approach involving hit discovery using mRNA display, followed by biochemical, biophysical, cell-based and animal studies for validation. Using structure-based drug design, we aim to elucidate the mechanism by which these molecules bind to their target proteins in order to improve their potency, therapeutic index, and physicochemical properties.
We are looking for highly motivated candidates that have recently
acquired or will be acquiring a Ph.D. in structural biology and have a record
of peer reviewed publications. The candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at VCU.
