The Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to our NSF-funded project, Exploring Student Interactions in Small Groups in Belonging-Oriented Undergraduate Mathematics Classrooms.
This position begins in August 2025 and is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to three years, contingent on funding availability and performance. We seek a highly motivated researcher with a strong interest in undergraduate mathematics education, student engagement in learning environments.
Position Responsibilities:
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will be instrumental in driving research on student interactions and belonging within active learning undergraduate mathematics classrooms. Your core responsibilities will encompass in-depth data analysis, the strategic dissemination of findings through impactful conference presentations and publications in leading mathematics education journals, and the development of an innovative theoretical framework. Additionally, you will have opportunities to mentor undergraduate research assistants, share expertise in collaborative research discussions, and engage with a vibrant academic community focused on improving undergraduate mathematics education.
