Duties & Responsibilities | Summary: This full-time position is supported by two grants funded by the Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Both projects entail the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based services designed to improve community reentry outcomes – employment, housing, access to services – for young adults involved with the criminal justice system. This position will be responsible for assisting the Principal Investigator and other research staff with all aspects of these projects, including: day-to-day project management; preparation of applications and modifications to human subjects research proposals; communicating with the research team and community research partners; communicating with community intervention partners, subject recruitment, enrollment and data collection; maintaining databases and data tracking, and assist with the preparation of project reports, presentations and manuscripts. Qualifications | Preferred Qualifications Competitive applicants will have experience with managing federally-funded projects, a history of research project management and data collection experience, experience with primary data collection with a variety of study populations, excellent organizational skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience working with an interdisciplinary team and knowledge of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Statistical Application Software (SAS) or STATA preferred. Experience working with individuals with mental illness and knowledge of the criminal justice and public mental health systems desired. Experience with and co-authorship of professional publications and conference presentations desired. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Minimum Qualifications Relevant baccalaureate degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, public health, public administration or a related field is required. A master’s degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, public health, public administration or a related field is preferred. For candidates demonstrating comparable project management experience, a relevant undergraduate degree and 5 or more years of relevant experience will be acceptable in substitution of a master’s degree. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU. |
