The Department of Computer Science in the College of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University, seek candidates to apply for the Research Web Developer position.

Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for improving the web presence of the Security and Forensics Engineering (SAFE) lab, including articulating research activities and creating and maintaining web content, applications, and pages.
Duties
include:
-This position will develop, test, and maintain websites and web applications. It involves collaborating with the lab’s faculty and students to update web contents periodically.
-The Web Developer will collaborate with designers, stakeholders, writers and others to create accessible, clean, well functioning front-end code, and manage content for websites
-The ideal candidate will show initiative in solving problems, and will work well as a member of a team or as a lead
-Collaborate with designers, stakeholders, writers and others to create accessible, clean, well functioning front-end code
-Build and maintain mobile-first landing pages and websites in the Adobe Experience Manager content management system (CMS)
-Be a creative thinker, approaching projects with the end user in mind
-Develop responsive website themes and wireframes utilizing content management systems such as Develop functional databases, applications, and servers to support websites on the backend
-Develop and design RESTful services and APIs
-Ensure that non-functional requirements such as security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability are being considered when architecting solutions
-Report back to the team on website development, maintenance, and server health
-Maintain and update processes and procedures regarding web design, development, and maintenance
Required Qualifications:
-The
ideal candidate is a creative thinker, who approaches projects with the
end user in mind
-Experience
in developing websites on content management systems
-Knowledge
of Apache Tomcat, Java, Oracle, SQL / PLSQL, REST, SOAP, Interfaces and
APIs
-Knowledge
of DevOps and Full Stack design and development
-Experience
working with Git and GitHub
-Strong
problem solving, organizational, prioritization skills
-Experience
with Agile methodologies and workflow for development
-Experience
developing websites, UI/UX development
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a employee at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
-5 years of IT industry experience
