Woodshop Technician Assistant (Non Benefited)
The Art Foundation Program Woodshop Technician Assistant oversees all operations in the student woodshop when the Woodshop Technician is not working. This includes:
• Introductory woodshop equipment safety and operations training sessions.
• Demonstrating to students the proper use of the equipment in order for them to achieve the desired results for assignments.
• Monitoring the use of hand-held tools.
• Monitoring students’ safe use of the Woodshop’s power machinery that can only be operated by students who are supervised by trained staff.
• Special projects for the Art Foundation Program as requested by the Art Foundation administration.
Required Qualifications
BFA or equivalent experience.
Professional experience in Art & Design.
Extensive woodshop experience required.
Experience with woodworking, machinery and woodshop safety required.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitement to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
MFA preferred.
Teaching experience preferred.
