The Department of Health Administration in the College of Health Professions is seeking an adjunct professor to teach a class in the undergraduate program for Health Services. Are you seeking a dynamic academic position that is focused on teaching future healthcare leaders? If you are, take a look at a new opportunity in the College of Health Professions, Bachelor of Science in Health Services Program. We are seeking an individual to be an adjunct for the Introduction to Rehabilitation Services Course. The primary objective of this position is to provide education instructional support to the Bachelor of Science in Health Services program.
Supports as an instructor in all aspects of this blended interdisciplinary program.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in health services based on course needs for the Introduction to Rehabilitation Services.
- Develop and organize course syllabi, assignments, exams, and course content as needed.
- Provide engaging and effective instruction to undergraduate students in person or online, as required.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through grading of assignments, exams, and projects.
- Hold office hours to meet with students and provide academic support.
- Participate in BSHS meetings and maintain communication with faculty and staff as necessary.
- Stay current with developments in the discipline and incorporate them into course materials and teaching methods.
- Follow university policies and procedures in teaching, grading, and conducting academic responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- A Master’s degree or higher in rehabilitation counseling or a related discipline.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and inspire students in a diverse academic environment
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching online and face-to-face.
- Experience teaching at the undergraduate level.
- Familiarity with Canvas.
- PhD or in progress.
- Experience in the field related to Rehabilitation Services.
