Position Description:
The part-time administrative assistant will support the daily activities of the Department of Microbiology & Immunology business office. This position will report to the department administrator and provide professional support to the chair, administrator and faculty of the department.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage chair/administrator calendars
- Create, edit and distribute itineraries for visiting faculty including travel arrangements, seminar announcement distribution, and room setup
- Create purchase orders from incoming order requests
- Submit facilities tickets and follow-up until tickets are closed
- Sort and distribute incoming mail, answer incoming calls and route to the appropriate individual
Required Qualifications:
- High school graduate
- At least one year of experience working in a similar administrative role
- Flexible scheduling
- Ability to follow directions
- Clearly communicate in a professional manner with all stakeholders
- Working knowledge of MS Office suite and google suite
- Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as a hourly employee at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some college coursework
- Some experience working in an academic medical center
