Mission or Goal of Unit
The mission of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department is to provide thehighest quality clinical care in both general and specialty Obstetrics andGynecology to the women of central Virginia. In addition to the clinical mission, the department has the allied goalsof providing undergraduate and graduate medical education in the field andadvancing the field through basic and clinical research.

Chief Purpose of this position
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology isseeking qualified candidates to provide specialty care in Urogynecology andReconstructive Pelvic Surgery to patients at VCU Health. The position willinclude participation in student and resident education as well asparticipating in the department's clinical research activities.
Position Responsibilities
Teaching The new faculty member will be responsible foractively participating in the department's educational activities, withparticular attention to educating students and residents in their coreeducational objectives in urogynecology and pelvic floor disorders.
Research The person filling the position is encouragedto initiate clinical research projects. They are expected to participate in andfacilitate other department research.
Service Faculty member will serve on departmental,hospital, and university committees as necessary, as well as in a professionalcapacity in their field.
Clinical The Urogynecology faculty member will seespecialty specific patients in clinic, perform diagnostic procedures such asurodynamics, and will have an active surgical practice, which will includeminimally invasive and robotic procedures. The staff member will also participate in the general gynecologicactivities of the department as appropriate including nighttime callduties.
Other The staff member will participate in departmentand institutional administrative activities as assigned by the division chiefand department chair.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of training in OB / GYN residency program
- Eligible for medical license in Virginia
- Completion of training in Obstetrics and Gynecology equivalent to ACGME and ABOG accredited residency and fellowship programs
- Completion of specialty training in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
